![]() I have done 8 of these kits on Quad-Tracs this spring, after the first tractor I gave up trying to remove the terminals, I went to the local CIH dealer and bought 20 of the terminals, i then soldered a pigtail into each terminal and then cut the wire about 3 inches from the connector and spliced on the new pigtail and insert into the proper hole, that way if it ever needs to be changed back it will be easier. They can be a bear sometimes, in general the key is to pull the tool and the wire out simultaneously while working the tool around the wire if necessary. Plastic ones are a joke and expensive about 5 bucks each, I bought a set off snap on truck, these are steel, around 45 bucks work very well, will look in morning and post Scott. If the Deusch connectors are rectangular then remove the wedge and move the plastic tab inwards with a small pick or screwdriver. If the Deutsch connectors are the round type then the plastic slip on tool is correct. ![]() The new tool that says AMP on it is for AMP Pins and is not for Deutsch. The kit came with a couple tools like the red one pictured above. Posted 15:14 (#3073863 - in reply to #3073846) Subject: RE: Deutsch connector pin removal? Then you just use the screwdriver to shift the little plastic tabs to the side and the wires slide right out In this case you'll need to pop off the wedge lock, usually an orange, green or plug piece on or in the front face of the plug. This is for plugs that can have the front face removed. The other type of removal tool looks like a small flathead screwdriver with a notch in it. If you've broke your plastic tool it sometimes works to trim off the end and try again as long as it doesn't get too big to fit in the hole. You'll feel as it slides in past the retaining tab. The one shown in Chad H's picture is used to remove wires from the rear of the plug as he said you slide it in around the wire but make sure you don't turn it while it is inside the plug as this will break the tool. There are two main types of Duetsch connector removal tools. You put it around the wire and slide in from the back side. Most Deutsch connectors require these tools to remove the pins. It doesn't seem to work either, and in really small letters it says "amp" on it. The plastic tools seemed to deform and one broke off, so after a long wild goose chase we found someone that would loan a metal tool. Is there some trick or technique to pulling these pins? Now I'm thinking that was just dumb luck because I'm having no success on the other two. After many attempts on the first pin, I gave up and went to the second pin which pulled out fine. The kit came with two little plastic tools. Working on installing a Raven kit to make a new Steiger integrated for using greenstar auto steer, and its going fine EXCEPT for the part where it says to move three pins in a couple of deutsch plugs.
